I signed Kaylee and Troy up for swim lessons at the YMCA. It was 8 lessons in a Pike I level class (not scared of the water, but not able to swim at all). I think they really enjoyed it. Troy really improved. By the end of the class, he could swim really far with the floatie on his back, and could even swim a little ways without his floatie.
They had a sweet teacher who was so patient with them. She turned everything into a game. I would have never thought of doing things that way, but it was perfect for kids that age. They played "Simon Says"...Simon says touch your cheek in the water, Simon says touch your nose to the water, etc. She even worked with them jumping in the pool and would sing songs like "Monkeys in a tree", and "Three little Ducks went out to play."
The last day, they got to go down the big water slides. Troy loved it but Kaylee only went down once because she doesn't like to get her face wet.
