We're trying something new this year. We signed Troy up for a travel ball team. We had gone to a tryout last fall, and they told Troy he had a spot on the team, but we had decided we would just stick with park ball for at least one more year. Three weeks ago though, they called and said they needed another player. Brian explained to them that we had already signed up and were commited to park ball and they said that was no problem.
So we went to two practices, played two practice games and had our first tournament this weekend. There are some definite kinks to work out with the young team - all the players on the team are new to travel ball. Because of rain, our first tournament was delayed 2 hours so our 4 and 5 o'clock game was supposed to start at 6 and 7. We finally got to play at 8:30 and 10:00. At 11:30, we were finished with pool play games.
Even though we didn't come away from the tournament with any wins, it was still such a good learning experience and Troy loves to play ball. He made a great double play one inning by catching a fly ball and tagging his base before the runner got back.
I know he is making good memories and it's fun to make new friends. I will enjoy watching him play this season.
