Christmas Eve Dinner

I love spending Christmas Eve at my mom's house. I know the kids are going to have wonderful memories of going. We enjoyed a yummy dinner and enjoyed spending time together. Mommaw spoiled the kids with a piano with a microphone. Kaylee sang the ABCs over and over and over. Troy got a drum set. He was nice enough to let us wait until we got home to set it up and since then, he has played over and over and over. In fact, the day after Christmas, as soon as Kaylee woke up from her nap, Troy runs through the house screaming, "sissy's awake, sissy's awake, where are my drum sticks?" Troy also got tracks for his hot wheels, and several hot wheel cars. Brian and I got a swing for outside and a flag for the front porch.

Christmas Eve morning

We enjoyed a nice morning at home on Christmas Eve. We made waffles and bacon. I thought that Kaylee would like the waffles dressed like Santa, but she wanted a plain one with syrup. When she was through eating that one, she wanted mine, but only ate the whipped cream off of it.We made cookies after breakfast. The kids thought it was fun to search through the cookie cutters. We made pumpkins, cars, and I was able to sneak a few trees and stockins in the mix.

Foxy

Foxy is a handful.  He is a fiesty little kitty.  He loves to climb and play.  I caught him in the tree several times, and I have to admit, the pictures are kinda cute.

Making Christmas trees

I really wanted to try to make more memories this season with the kids. It seams like it always goes by so fast and we run out of time to do everything we wanted to do.

I tried last year to buy ice cream cones but I waited too late, so this year I bought them early. We decorated candy Christmas trees one night. I really thought they would enjoy eating them more than making them, but they did like making them. Kaylee would lick her fingers every now and then, but for the most part, she didn't eat it. After we were through I told them they could eat it, but Troy carefully put his in the fridge and would not eat it.

Christmas program at church

Troy is in the Angel Choir at church during the Sunday School hour. The angel choir is for kids ages 3-5. Troy is probably the youngest one in the choir. We got a notice the first week of December that the choir would sing three songs at Christmas and each kid needed to pick how they wanted to dress, a cow, a donkey, an angel or a shepard. Troy immediately said cow. So, since it was right after Halloween, we went to Target and bought a cow costume for half off. He adores his teacher, Ms. Tara. He loves her! She gave us a cd of the songs, so we listened to it all the time in the car. Troy and Kaylee would both sing in the car. The afternoon of the performance, in his sweet voice, Troy told me that everyone else was going to be a shepard in the program, but he REALLY wanted to be a cow. It almost sounded like he was worried he would be the only one. I told him he could be a cow and he was happy. The night of the performance, I was really worried that Kaylee would start singing too. Sometimes in the car, she would sing louder than Troy. The choir did a great job and you could tell that Troy was actually singing. He did a great job!

Going to see Santa

Santa came to Troy's school and I talked to Troy ahead of time about it. He was going to be a big brother and hold sissy's hand so she wouldn't be scared. After Santa came, his teachers told me that Troy tried to take care of Kaylee but she still cried.

We took the kids to the mall to see Santa. Troy was super excited. We even put on his "going to see Santa" shirt. He wanted to tell Santa he wanted drums, tools, Thomas puzzles and a big Mickey Mouse book. We waited in line and he was excited the entire time. He kept peaking to make sure he could still see him. When our time finally came, Kaylee started screaming and then Troy cried. Needless to say, I still don't have a picture of both of the kids together with Santa.

Christmas Tree pics

After I gave Troy and Kaylee their Christmas pajamas, I tried to get "sweet and cute" pictures by the tree. Let's just say, I am not a photographer, but the kids were awfully cute while I tried.

Kaylee's Recitals

Kaylee had a very busy day on recital day.  She had three recitals - one dance recital and two baton recitals.    Her recital was dance and ...
